PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla., March 21, 2017 – After a midseason break, Chasin’ the Sun is back for a seven-run stretch of new episodes. The episode of “Chasin’ the Sun” airing this Sunday on Destination America Network explains how to find redfish in the waters of Panama City Beach throughout the year. Local fishing guides give their insight on the best times and methods for catching these beautiful fish in the new episode entitled Seasonal Cycle. “Chasin’ the Sun,” a fishing and coastal lifestyle television show filmed in Panama City Beach, airs Sunday mornings at 8:30 a.m. EST / 7:30 a.m. CST on Destination America network, which reaches approximately 56 million U.S. households.
“The waters surrounding our beaches hold an abundance of marine life, but it’s the redfish that many anglers count on for the year-round action,” says President and CEO of Visit Panama City Beach Dan Rowe. “For me, nothing compares to the excitement of hooking a redfish while fly fishing the flats of Panama City Beach!”
In this Sunday’s episode, local fishing guide Capt. Steve Bachman takes a client on a fly fishing trip – what he calls a “total visual experience” – to the flats. In the crystal clear water, their objective is to see the fish and present the bait before the fish sees them. Capt. Bachman explains how redfish rely on tidal action to deliver prey such as shrimp and crabs to the shallows and creek mouths. Cruising along the beach, host Justin Leake and local guide Todd Jones spot large schools of redfish eager for a fight. The day ends with Capt. Leake sharing his proven techniques for targeting redfish in deep water and some friendly competition in catching redfish in the bay on standup paddle boards with professional angler Sam Root.
“Chasin’ the Sun” is produced by Visit Panama City Beach with support from sponsors including national brands such as AFTCO, Yo-Zuri, MarineMax, Sperry, Shimano and ResortQuest by Wyndham Vacation Rentals.
The show will also air on NBC Sports Network in June 2017.
