The new Wolcott wastewater treatment plant is nearing final design, and preliminary earthwork will commence in the coming weeks with full site construction beginning in early summer 2020.
An official groundbreaking event will be planned to commemorate the start of construction.
The plant will utilize new technology, Granulated Activated Sludge, which reduces the amount of tanks and equipment required, thereby minimizing costs.
In addition to the treatment plant to be located north of K-5 (Wolcott Drive), a significant influent pump station will be constructed to the south (Behind Family Tree nursery), as well as a gravity sewer pipe along the east side of I-435 from Donahoo to the influent pump station. The total construction costs will be approximately $47-million.
