What To Know Before Your First RV Trip

What To Know Before Your First RV Trip

Packing up an RV and driving across the country is a great way to put a unique spin on your family vacation. Traveling with an RV means you can stop wherever you like for lodging and stop to see all the little things you want along the way. If this sounds enjoyable to you, here’s what to know before your first RV trip.

Park Before Dark

If you want to make the most of your time on your trip, get to your overnight spot before dark. When you’re going exploring on the grounds or in the woods, it’s important to be able to see where you’re going and be able to find your way back. If you’re staying in an RV park, it also gives you time to socialize with the other people there. You’ll make some of your best connections at a campfire over cold drinks!

Do Your Research

You’ll want to have at least a general idea of where you’re stopping on your trip beforehand. Look up some of the best camping spots on your route and try to make it to some of them. There are apps specifically for reviewing and contributing different campgrounds across the country, and if you use them, you’re bound to find a ton of useful information! You’ll also want to be sure you have all of the tools and supplies necessary for the long haul. If you’re towing a camper, make sure to prep your truck for the extra weight.

Enjoy the Little Things

Waking up and seeing the sunset each morning is a big part of why RVs and campers have become so popular in the last few years. Be sure you take in your entire experience and let yourself find some joy in the small details that you tend to take for granted in your daily life.

All in all, loading up an RV and taking off can be exhilarating, freeing, and immensely rewarding. If you remember to park before dark, do your research, and enjoy the little things, you’re sure to make the most out of an already incredible experience.
