What to Do In Case of Interrupted Collection Services Due to Weather

Winter weather is in the forecast for the upcoming week and that means we may experience some delays in service from time to time.

If we experience interrupted collection services due to ice or snow, here are a few pointers to keep in mind:

  • Stay up to date with delays and rescheduled collections with the Recycle It app, through our twitter and right here on the blog.
  • When in doubt, set out your carts and leave them out throughout the following day.
  • If your carts have not been collected by the end of that following day, bring them in and set them out on your next scheduled collection day.
  • If your carts have not been collected from the previous week due to weather, you can set out double amounts on your next pickup day for no extra charge.

In the event of snow and/or ice, City emergency planners urge residents to prepare their homes for cold weather, build emergency supply kits for homes and vehicles, and not to drive unnecessarily. For more information on how to prepare for winter weather, please visit the Seattle Department of Transportation’s winter weather website and Take Winter By Storm. Stay safe out there!
