Wellness fair targets Hispanic residents

The Hispanic Wellness Coalition presents Carnaval de Salud, a wellness fair, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 6 at Tarrant County College Trinity River Campus, 300 Trinity River Campus Circle.

With more than 40 community organizations participating, all services are provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Tarrant County Public Health hosts the event as part of Binational Health Week, a collaborative effort with the Mexican Ministry of Health, the Mexican Consulate in Dallas and other local agencies. The goal is to focus on health care and wellness among Hispanics and to promote sustainable partnerships that address health issues.

Services that will be provided include flu shots, blood pressure checks, glucose checks, kidney screenings, oral cancer screenings, dental exams and genetic cancer testing.

A free shuttle will run from Tarrant County Public Health, 1101 S. Main St.
