Salt Lake City (July 9, 2013) ???????? The Web.com Tour Utah Championship arrives in Utah this week, bringing top-level golf professionals, PGA TOUR officials, families, friends and caddies, and golf fans to the state.
The tournament provides significant benefit to the state including the approximate $4-$6 million in economic impact that will be pumped into Utah’s economy by week’s end. In addition, GOLF CHANNEL will broadcast twenty hours of coverage, including ten hours of live play, which will provide the opportunity for golf fans across the world to see one of Utah’s top golf courses and the beautiful scenery of the state.

“Hosting this world-class event provides significant economic and image building benefit to Utah,” said Jeff Robbins, president and CEO of the Utah Sports Commission. “In addition to having the tournament broadcast internationally, our partnership with GOLF CHANNEL provides the opportunity for the Utah Sports Commission, the Utah Office of Tourism and Utah’s Destination Golf initiative to run commercial ads during the broadcast, furthering the promotion Utah will receive.”
The tournament will be played at Willow Creek Country Club in Sandy July 11-14 and provides a pathway to the PGA TOUR, with season-long performance serving as a benchmark for securing one’s TOUR card. All 50 TOUR cards are now being awarded through qualifying play on the Web.com Tour. Twenty-five cards will be issued to the top-25 leading money winners at the conclusion of the regular season, with an additional 25 cards on the line during the Web.com Tour Finals, a series of four events leading to the season-ending Web.com Tour Championship.
Golf fans are invited to both attend the Utah Championship and watch GOLF CHANNEL’s coverage of the event.
In addition to the tournament, there will be “Pink on the Links” activities raising funds for Huntsman Cancer Foundation including professional and Olympic athletes on hand showing their support for the tournament and signing autographs, a $250,000 donation to Huntsman Cancer Foundation for any pro making a hole in one on the 18th green on Saturday, and a hot dog lunch. The Select Health Kid’s Clinic will be held at the Willow Creek Country Club driving range on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. The clinic will feature golf instruction from touring pros and each participating child will receive a free golf club courtesy of the PGA Section while supplies last. The event is free for children. Select Health will also provide hot dogs and drinks while supplies last.
