GLENDALE, Ariz. – It is all about showing our Mom how much we love and appreciate her while honoring our deployed military, with two special days in Historic Downtown Glendale. The locally owned businesses in the Catlin Court and Old Towne districts have created two unique events designed for social distancing while pampering our Moms and collecting items for care packages for deployed military. The virtual event dates are Saturday, May 2 and Saturday, May 9, 2020 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.*
During the two event dates, you can enjoy take out at your favorite eateries, call ahead for curbside and porch pick up, and shop online or enjoy private shopping at many of your favorite shops. You can also purchase gift certificates to enjoy shopping and dining soon with your mom. In addition, on Saturday, May 9, there will be a special Flower Trail experience. Many of the shops and restaurants will be handing out a free flower to Mom’s (while supplies last).
Historic Downtown Glendale is honored to partner with numerous nonprofit organizations throughout the year. This year’s Mother’s Day events are in partnership with the Blue Star Moms of the Southwest Valley. The Blue Star Moms send monthly care packages to deployed military personnel. Event attendees are encouraged to bring care package donations to the Arizona Information Center (5836 W. Palmaire) on event day. A few of the requested items include lip balm, foot care products, brand name Q-tips, toiletries, beef jerky, canned meats, books, first aid kits, crossword/sudoku/puzzle books, individually wrapped hard candy, packs of gum and disposable razors. All items collected will be packaged and shipped to deployed military throughout the world.
