UTAH STATE UNIVERISTY TO HOST PUBLIC RELATIONS PROFESSIONALS FROM ALL OVER THE NATION (FOR 2012 VIVINT MOUNTAIN WEST PUBLIC RELATIONS CONFERENCE)
A weekend full of learning and networking is available for both students and professionals
LOGAN, Utah-The Utah State University Public Relations Student Society of America program (USU PRSSA) will host this yearâ€™s 2012 Vivint Mountain West Public Relations Conference at USUâ€™s Eccles Conference Center on March 1-3, 2012. The conference provides students and professionals with opportunities to learn how to use public relations in all aspects of the professional world. Students, professionals, and the general public throughout the western United States are invited to attend.
The USU PRSSA has been recognized at a national level and this year will be its fourth year hosting the Mountain West PR Conference. â€œWe aim to create an interactive learning environment for students interested in public relations, marketing, networking with professionals, and gaining hands on experience,â€ said Preston Parker, faculty advisor of PRSSA.
Following the conference theme, â€œPutting the PR in Professional,â€ the conference teaches how to use PR in all aspects of the professional world. It provides the opportunity to create new business connections for both students and professionals.
“It’s great to see so much support from students and professionals for this conference. Each year it gets bigger and better,â€ Parker said.
The conference features speakers who are well known for their expertise in various fields including Trina Patterson, senior manager over Media Relations for ATKâ€™s Space Systems Group; DJ Marcus Wing, entrepreneur; S. Max Brown, the Leadership Initiatives Vice President for Rideau Recognition Solutions; and a technology entrepreneur Amanda Peyton from New York City.
â€œThis yearâ€™s conference will be the best we have had yet,â€ said Jackie Berryhill, conference director. â€œWe have speakers lined up from various fields that will educate and help attendees develop skills in these areas. The purpose is for everyone to come together, be further educated, build relationships, and establish themselves and their organizations.â€
Vivint Inc., one of the largest home automation companies in North America, is the main sponsor for the annual conference making it the Vivint Mountain west Public Relations Conference. Vivintâ€™s keynote speakers will be talking about the public relations that needed to go into their recent company name change from Apex Alarms.
Early registration ends February 25 but everyone is welcome to register until the day of the event. The cost to attend the conference for all three days is $20 for PRSSA members, $35 for other students and $95 for professionals. After February 25, 2012 the price increases $15.
