Kansas City, Kansas was chosen as a What Works City in 2016. The UG’s SOAR team was featured in an article recently by What Works Cities for their work on the NRSA/Park Drive Neighborhood Project and the walking event that was held the week of July 9, 2018.
What Works Cities is a national initiative helping cities across the U.S. enhance their use of data and evidence to improve services, inform local decision-making, and engage residents.
The SOAR team continues to work closely with Johns Hopkins University and their Center for Government Excellence (GovEx), a relationship that started with What Works Cities project. This spring, the team collaborated on a new tool to help bring the benefits of academic research to local governments in a faster, more reliable, and understandable way. GovEx and the National League of Cities unveiled that “Roadmap to Policy Change”.
The UG had the honor of providing the NLC with the guest blog introducing the project on the League’s “Cities Speak” website.
