Two Arrested for Attempted Murder, Principal to Attempted Murder on Knight Drive

NEW ORLEANS – Seventh District officers have arrested Leroniequa Mitchell (DOB:11/19/94) and Lerionte Mitchell (DOB:01/10/97) for attempted second-degree murder and for principal to attempted second-degree murder after a shooting incident that occurred on Monday (June 18).

At about 7:20 p.m., the above-pictured subjects arrived in the 4900 block of Knight Drive to meet with the known victims. Through the course of the investigation, officers learned that the planned meeting occurred due to an ongoing conflict that started on social media.

Once at the location, Leroniequa Mitchell produced a pistol and fired multiple rounds at the victims, striking one of the victims in the side and arm. Leroniequa Mitchell then approached and placed the pistol against the second victim’s head while making verbal threats.

Lerionte Mitchell threatened to kill the victims and implied that she also had a firearm.

Both suspects fled the scene together and were later apprehended by Seventh District officers.

Leroniequa Mitchell was booked with two counts of attempted second-degree murder and one count of illegal use of weapons during a crime of violence.

Lerionte Mitchell was booked with two counts of principal to attempted second-degree murder.
