TORAN GAAL, THE “UNSTOPPABLE HERO” COMING TO KANAB
MONDAY, JUNE 8 – COME MEET TORAN & HEAR HIS “MYWHY” STORY

Former Marine Sgt. Toran Gaal died three times. During his stint in Afghanistan Toran stepped on an IED that blew off both legs, a hip and left him with 30% of his brain damaged. He was in an extended coma and needed resuscitation three times before recovering to the mental miasma of confusion, loss of confidence and shock. A man who had been contemplating a career in professional basketball was now seriously lacking physically and emotionally. His response?  Toran embraced adaptive sports and challenged himself to become a motivational speaker. He does marathons, crossfit competitions, surf competitions and coaches basketball. He spends his days training and spreading his inspiring message of hope, strength and courage via public speaking engagements.
Now this “unstoppable hero” has upped the ante.  On June 1st  Toran left downtown San Diego for a 65 day, 52 city, 3800 mile solo handcycle trip across America raising monies for the Semper Fi Fund that helped him, and raising consciousness regarding the plight of injured vets. The Semper Fi Fund was there for Toran’s family from the beginning of his crisis, offering much needed support over the days, months and years following his injury. Toran’s Ride Across America aims to pay some of that support back. Toran is accompanied by fellow retired Marine Sgt. Brian Riley, Brian is a single-amputee. Their long journey will end at the Marine Memorial in Arlington, Va. 
Twenty-two vets returning with PTSD  commit suicide every day. Education on the life of the wounded and inspiration to guide them is increasingly critical. MONDAY, JUNE 8th, Toran will be spending the night in Kanab, Utah after bicycling that day from Marble Canyon. TORAN AND BRIAN EXTEND AN OPEN INVITATION TO RIDE WITH THEM AT ANY POINT DURING THEIR JOURNEY.
Toran and Brian enjoy meeting with fellow veterans, fellow athletes and supporters as well as media.
