Carrollton, Texas – Internationally known ‘90s rock band Tonic will join previously announced Vertical Horizon as an opening act at the City of Carrollton’s 9th Annual Festival at the Switchyard on Saturday, November 3 in Downtown Carrollton (1106 S. Broadway Street).
With six top 10 singles, more than 4 million records sold, and multiple Grammy nominations, Tonic is a musical powerhouse that has helped usher rock ‘n’ roll into the 21st century. The group released their debut album,Lemon Parade, in 1996, which reached platinum status with its featured monster hit “If You Could Only See.”
They went on to release studio albums Sugar in 1999 and Head On Straight in 2002, as well as a live EP, Live & Enhanced in 1999. Some of their best-known songs from those albums include “You Wanted More,” “Mean to Me,” and “Take Me as I Am.” The band also released a self-titled album in May 2010, which appeared on the Billboard Top 200 Chart, in the top 50 on the Billboard Rock Album Chart, and in the top 25 on the Billboard Independent Album Chart. The single, “Release Me,” charted in the top 30 on the Hot Adult Contemporary Chart.
After touring for 10 years, the group decided to take a break to focus on family and other creative outlets. It wasn’t long before the band was back at it and recording again. Tonic released Lemon Parade Revisited in 2016 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its debut album, and continues to tour today.
“When we play music together it feels like going home,” singer and guitarist Emerson Hart said. “Getting together and playing some rock ‘n’ roll is the best feeling in the world.”
