McLeland Tennis Center recently completed some major renovations that will help ensure it will meet the needs of Fort Worth’s tennis community for years to come.
A total of seven courts — five outdoor and two indoor — have been refurbished. Updates have also been made to the parking lot that allow for ADA accessibility and pedestrian sidewalks, among others.
These renovations will allow McLeland to host larger tournaments at the facility, located at 1600 W Seminary Drive, while also providing the opportunity to expand junior programming, expand space for rentals and requiring less downtime due to flooding and weather issues.
New pros, same commitment to excellence
For those who haven’t recently been to McLeland, some new coaches have recently joined the team.
Alexa Mentesana played tennis for Dallas Baptist University and Texas Wesleyan University prior to joining the staff. Jerod Kelm is currently a sophomore at Texas Wesleyan.
Both coaches will be available for drills and lessons for all ages and skill levels, working under Matt Hanlin, McLeland’s regional manager and recent recipient of the Texas U.S. Professional Tennis Association’s Community Service Award for raising more than $10,000 for victims of Hurricane Harvey.
