|After wing suit jump into Utah State Capitol to launch the final countdown, the competition kicks off Saturday, August 17th at Utah Motorsports Campus|
|Salt Lake City, UT– With just days to go until the high-adrenaline, action-packed Nitro World Games get underway, Nitro World Games organizers called in help from the Red Bull Air Force to initiate the final countdown to the big air action sports competition. On Monday night, wingsuit flyers boarded a Cessna departing Tooele Valley Airport with one goal: light up the sky of Salt Lake City in the spirit of Nitro World Games and land safely at the Utah State Capitol. Running large pyrotechnics off of their legs and reaching speeds close to 120mph, the wingsuit flyers were successful in their mission and left many Utahns in awe contemplating what they had witnessed. Now, the world’s best are gathering at Utah Motorsports Campus for Saturday’s main event.
"Nitro World Games is the big air of action sports competition." said Travis Pastrana about Monday night’s wingsuit jump. "The Red Bull Air Force are world-renowned skydivers and some of the only humans in the world who can pull something so astounding off with precision, just like the athletes at Nitro World Games. So, in that spirit, I phoned in some favors to the Utah Sports Commission and to Governor Herbert’s office and we were able to pull off something pretty spectacular. Now it’s time for me to get focused and into race mode for Nitro Rallycross."
"Partnering with Nitro World Games and Travis Pastrana always brings great action and excitement to the state," says Jeff Robbins, president and CEO of the Utah Sports Commission, "Having this tremendous event take place that continues to generate significant economic impact and media exposure, further positions Utah as one of the top places in the world to host major action and motorsports events."
Saturday is guaranteed to be action-packed with the return of Nitro Rallycross, the innovative race that has set the bar in rallycross racing.
