Virgin, Utah to host mountain biking’s only true big-mountain freeride contest
Salt Lake City, UT – October 9, 2013 – Red Bull Rampage is set to let loose in Virgin, Utah this weekend. Known throughout the mountain bike community as the ultimate big mountain Freeride spectacle, Red Bull Rampage is the place to prove who is the most daring and well-rounded rider in the sport???¦??s most respected event.
The event will continue to showcase the riders???¦?? boundless drive for progression. Last year a new, higher ridgeline was used as the start gate for the finals. Riders have just tapped the surface of possibilities, as discovered by 2012 champion Kurt Sorge on a scouting mission earlier this year, when new lines, and a world of new possibilities were unearthed. Will there be bigger canyons to sail across, deeper descents, and new lift offs to flip and spin riders into infamy? The riders will unearth the answers this weekend.
Beautiful Virgin Utah, with its red rock bluffs, canyons and vistas will provide the scenic backdrop for this world-class event. For the first time, the event will be broadcast on a LIVE webcast on www.redbullrampage.com Sunday, October 13, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. MST and again on
NBC December 21 at 2:30 pm. EST providing an estimated $3 million in media value to the state of Utah. In addition to the significant media value the event will generate, it will also provide approximately $4 million in economic impact to Utah.
“In a difficult time when the national parks are temporarily closed, one positive note is that the Red Bull Rampage is taking place in close proximity to many of these parks providing significant economic, media and related impact to the state,” said Jeff Robbins, president and CEO of the Utah Sports Commission. “And, with the significant television, media and web presence this event commands around the world, Utah will receive continued exposure long after the event has taken place.”
The official Red Bull Rampage build team has been onsite for weeks installing a few select features and handling some of the bigger build projects. Now the athletes are in town, the shovels have been turned over as they scout their own line according to their individual skills and style.
