Targeting Kingfish in Next Episode of “Chasin’ the Sun”

Panama City Beach’s “Chasin’ the Sun” TV Show Honored at 38th Annual Telly Awards PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla., April 24, 2017 – In the eleventh episode of “Chasin’ the Sun,” titled Kings For A Day, light tackle leads to a whole lot of saltwater action when targeting kingfish just off the coast of Panama City Beach. “Chasin’ the Sun,” a fishing and coastal lifestyle television show filmed in Panama City Beach, airs Sunday mornings at 8:30 a.m. EST / 7:30 a.m. CST on Destination America network, which reaches approximately 56 million U.S. households.

“The diversity of Panama City Beach’s fishery is on full display in this week’s episode,” says President and CEO of Visit Panama City Beach Dan Rowe. “Chasing kingfish offshore or redfish on the flats, fishermen are always thrilled with the variety of fishing here.”

In this week’s episode, Capt. Justin Leake is joined by another Northwest Florida fishing guide, Capt. Pat Dineen, for a trip into the Gulf of Mexico to target king mackerel. The action starts at sunrise when Dineen hooks the day’s first kingfish using light tackle. By midday, the pair adds bonita and Spanish mackerel to the mix.

This week’s special guest is a fixture of the local fishing community, Jack “The Baitman” Conzelman. For more than two decades, his floating barges have been the “go to” spots for live bait – cigar minnows, pinfish, hardtails and other species – so anglers can focus on the fishing. Also featured is the new Bay County Shooting Range, a state-of-the-art complex with amenities not often found at a publicly-owned facility. The range is managed by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and includes a sporting clays course as well as five stand and ranges for rifles and pistols. The Gould Brothers delight the opening day crowd with their shotgun trick shots during a stop on their nationwide tour. Finally, Capt. Leake poles the flats while teen angler Nate West reels in one redfish after another in water only six inches deep.

“Chasin’ the Sun” is produced by Visit Panama City Beach with support from sponsors including national brands such as AFTCO, Yo-Zuri, MarineMax, Sperry, Shimano and ResortQuest by Wyndham Vacation Rentals.

The show will also air on NBC Sports Network in June 2017.
