Sunset Heights earns second place in Neighborhood of the Year contest at national conference

Fort Worth’s Sunset Heights Neighborhood Association received the second place award for Neighborhood of the Year at the 43rd annual Neighborhoods USA (NUSA) conference in Birmingham, Ala.

Sunset Heights won by taking an unattractive retaining wall at the entrance to the neighborhood and transforming it into an opportunity for neighbors to meet one another, plan a project, collaborate and work together to beautify their neighborhood with an inspiring mural.

Leaders from the Sunset Heights Neighborhood Association represented the City of Fort Worth as the 2017 Neighborhood of the Year and Fort Worth Pride first place winners at the NUSA conference. Sunset Heights was awarded both honors at the Mayor’s Community Engagement Workshops & 2017 Neighborhood Awards in January.

District 9 Councilmember Ann Zadeh attended the conference to support the efforts of the Fairmount and Sunset Heights neighborhood associations.
