2013 Featured Artist Contest Winners & Application Deadlines Announced

LOGAN, UT ?›ƒ?ªƒ?? In its 30th year, the Summerfest Arts Faire once again gathers artists from around the U.S. to show their work June 13-15, 2013 in downtown at the Logan Tabernacle square, 50 N Main, Logan, Utah. Since their founding in 1993, the connection between the arts and the broader community has grown to embrace fine art, music, and food. Cache Valley is an art destination and Summerfest is Northern Utah’s premier event for collectors and community members to purchase unique and beautiful art. We jury our artists, entertainers and food vendors to insure artistic excellence in every aspect of our event.

As part of the 30th anniversary season festivities, the Summerfest Arts Faire Board wanted to celebrate this landmark by highlighting a featured artist on the 30th Anniversary Poster. The winners of the 2013 Summerfest Arts Faire Featured Artist Competition Winners were announced on Friday, February 8, 2013 during CVCA?›ƒ?ªƒ?›s first Gallery Walk of the year. Artwork was submitted a week prior to the walk by artists throughout Cache Valley. Submitted artwork covered all mediums ranging from photography to oil paintings. Artwork was judged by the Summerfest Board of Directors who had the daunting task of narrowing down the entries to the final piece for the 2013 poster art and selecting three honorable mentions. This year?›ƒ?ªƒ?›s Featured Artist award goes to Kay Homan for her piece ?›ƒ?ª?Sunny in Any Light.?›ƒ?ª? Homan will be the Featured Artist at Summerfest Arts Faire 30th Anniversary event. She will also receive a free corner booth space and be featured on Summerfest?›ƒ?ªƒ?›s advertising. Join us in a celebration of her work on Friday, April 12 during the Spring Gallery Walk.

The following is a list of the first place winner for the featured artist competition along with the three honorable mentions for the Summerfest Featured Artist competition. Honorable Mention winners will receive $100 toward their 2013 booth fee (if they apply and are juried into Summerfest Arts Faire), signage at Summerfest designating them as Honorable Mention winners.

Kay?›ƒ?ªƒ?›s watercolors are very detailed, hearty in color and utilize a lot of ?›ƒ?ª??layering?›ƒ?ªƒ?› of the transparent paint. Homan was been featured in Arts of the West, Southwest Art, Western Horseman, International Cowboy, Old West Traveler, and Indian Country. In addition, she has received many awards.
