The Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City has hired Jon Stephens as Interim Economic Development Director.
Stephens is president of Rockhill Strategic, a Kansas City executive consulting firm. A Kansas City native, Stephens has more than 20 years of marketing and management experience in a variety of industries. Since forming Rockhill Strategic, he has worked extensively in development and civic affairs, including serving as interim President & CEO of VisitKC and interim Executive Director of the KCK Chamber of Commerce.
“I look forward to working with the Unified Government to effectively bring development projects to life that benefit everyone in KCK,” said Stephens. “We are well positioned to capitalize on Kansas City’s momentum, and bring new investment to our community. I am excited to be back in KCK, and working with such dedicated professionals.”
Stephens is joining the Unified Government Economic Development Department after the departure of George Brajkovic, who is now the City Manager of Tonganoxie.
“With recent staff turnover, the timing was right to bring in a talented professional that understands the private sector development world, and Jon is a perfect fit,” said County Administrator Doug Bach. “He can provide strong leadership for my Economic Development Department now and great assistance and perspective to my management team. I am excited to bring him on board.”
Stephens will begin his duties April 13 and serve in the role for six months while the search for a permanent Economic Development Director is underway.
