Streetscape improvements continue in the Six Points Urban Village area. Construction of phase one improvements began in April and is expected to take 11 months to complete. Currently, crews are working on the north side of Race Street and then will move to the south side.
Phase one improvements include wide sidewalks, new on-street parking, pedestrian lighting, protected bike lanes, landscaping, decorative pavement, street furniture and public art.
Phase two of the Six Points project will construct streetscape improvements on Race Street from Grace Avenue to Oakhurst Scenic Drive. Construction on phase two improvements is expected to begin in September and will take 10 months to complete.
Phase two improvements include intersection improvements at Sylvania Avenue and Race Street, and the restriping of Sylvania Avenue from Virginia Court to the SH-121 frontage road.
Another project is slated for North Sylvania Avenue from 28th Street to Race Street to restripe the road from four lanes to three lanes. This new striping will include a dedicated turn lane.
