Since early this year, the Providence Inn and Old Rock Church have been hosting Senior Luncheons the second Monday of each month. ??????The entertainment at these luncheons has been outstanding, reflecting the superb talent to be found in Providence and elsewhere in Cache Valley,?????? states Karl Seethaler of the Providence Inn.
The Senior Luncheons offer an opportunity for old friends to get together and a chance to make new friends. In years past, Theurer????????s Market and the U.S. Post Office were located in downtown Providence where residents would frequently see each other while doing their errands. With the closing of the store and the relocation of the Post Office, that all changed.
Now, people who live just a few blocks apart haven????????t talked in years. The Senior Luncheons have started to bring the community back together. Seethaler said, ??????nearly every luncheon we see 30-40 people attend and enjoy the time renewing friendships and often listening to music.??????
The lunches have been temporarily suspended during the summer months because so many people are busy vacationing and visiting family. However, according to former Providence Mayor, Gary Millburn, the Senior Luncheons will start again on Monday, September 10, 2012 with a sing-along directed by Roger Leuba.
