Jonathan Badger, CEO of Lee’s Marketplace, Inc, Chairman of the Golf Classic Organizing Committee, and Past Rotary President said, “By raising money to eradicate Polio from the earth each participant at the tournament can be part of history as we provide the solution and change the world together.” "It's great to have so much support for the event that helps both local and international communities. The Rotary Fall Finish Golf Classic is the biggest annual fundraiser of the Cache Valley Morning (CVM) Rotary Club and the only tournament in Cache alley with a worldwide reach for doing good,” he added. "The containment of polio worldwide is one of the impassioned missions of Cache Valley Rotarians with funds raised for thousands of vaccinations to benefit third-world countries,” stated Trace Skeen, President of the CVM Rotary. On a broader scale, Rotary International works in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO), which reports less than 50 cases of polio worldwide this year, with the crippling and potentially deadly disease remaining in only three countries, namely, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Ukraine.
Rotary is an international service organization of 34,282 clubs in 128 countries and over 1.2 million members who are local business, professional, and civic leaders. On the international level, CVM Rotary provides overseas exchange opportunities for Cache Valley youth, and supports the cultural arts and literacy programs of the Cambodia International Children Friend Organization, a children’s home located in Phnom Penh. The Club also has an ongoing commitment in contributing time, talent, resource, and participation to all of the following local organizations and programs: The Family Place (formerly Child & Family Support Center), Centro de la Familia, Cache Food Pantry, Cache Valley Literacy Program, and youth leadership development programs.
In addition to active participation in community projects, networking, and social events, members of CVM Rotary meet every Tuesday morning at 7:30 AM for a combination of field trips at major businesses and institutions around the valley. As a membership organization, CVM Rotary seeks out individuals with leadership capabilities and potential who are enthusiastic about providing service at both local and international levels. The collegial environment within the club allows for members to bring their career expertise to become part of the solution for improving the quality of life in Cache Valley as well as the world at large.
