Register by Friday: Neighborhood Leaders Roundtable, March 24th, 2018

In New Orleans, Heroin use more than doubled among young adults ages 18–25 in the past decade. More than 9 in 10 people who used heroin also used at least one other drug. 45% of people who used heroin were also addicted to prescription opioid painkillers.

On Saturday, March 24, the Mayor’s Neighborhood Engagement Office will hold its quarterly Neighborhood Leaders Roundtable. The topic of this quarter will be: The Opioid Crisis: Helping Fight Addiction and Overdose.

We will have presentations from the City of New Orleans Health Department and the New Orleans Police Department.

Topics of discussion included will be:

  • What are Opiates?
  • How do I stop an overdose?
  • Where can I go for help?
  • How are opiates ingested?
  • How do I dispose of unused medications, including opiates?
