Winter Weather on the Way: Storm Slated for Peoria
Heavy springtime snow is slated for Thursday night, April 16, into Friday morning for Peoria and other parts of north central Illinois. The National Weather Service reports a winter storm warning will be in effect from 7 p.m. this evening to 10 a.m. Friday. Temperatures should fluctuate to above and below freezing.
– Snow accumulations of four to eight inches
– Heavy wet snow
– Coming to Peoria, Stark, Marshall, Knox and Woodford Counties
The Public Works Department is preparing to plow roads and alleyways as travel could become difficult. Due to the essential business and stay-at-home order, the Department anticipates reduced pedestrian and vehicle traffic, however, drivers who do need to get out should allow for extra time on their drive as roads are expected to be snow-covered.
Drivers can keep watch on the weather on the National Weather Service website and find the latest road conditions online at gettingaroundillinois.com.
