The City of Austin will host a Town Hall meeting Thursday, Aug. 25, for the community to meet the candidates for the City’s Chief Equity Officer position.
Those under consideration will be introduced to the public at the event from6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Palmer Events Center, 900 Barton Springs Road.
The public will hear presentations from each candidate and have a chance to talk informally with them. Earlier that day, candidates will be interviewed by panels of community members and City Directors.

The Chief Equity Officer will shape an office that will be focused internally on the City organization as well as externally on the needs of the greater Austin community.
The person will look at the City of Austin organization to identify gaps and disparities in services and programs and help create a plan for each department. The Equity Officer will also work with community groups to help them navigate the City organization to ensure equal access to City programs and services.
