In every neighborhood there’s a home where the girls seem to sing as much as they talk. These are the girls and young women who find a home at the Phoenix Girls Chorus. In their 35 years in the Valley, the Chorus has taken girls who love to sing and given them a foundation in performance art and music education they carry for life.
The Chorus is a diverse group of girls from all over the valley. Girls as young as seven all the way through 12th grade participate in one of five choirs where they learn everything from choral singing, music theory and performance techniques. The singers meet just once a week but in that short time they develop their music skills, form lasting friendships, develop strength and independence, and create lifetime memories. With the chorus’ foundation in music theory and performance, PGC girls create beauty and art while reaping the benefits of advanced arts education – the A in the important Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math “STEAM” curriculum.
The Chorus begins its 35th Anniversary season after a summer spent touring in Spain and performing at Carnegie Hall. In October, all five choirs will perform in the season opener – Fall Follies Concert, a casual, fun concert open to the public.
Details on joining the Phoenix Girls Chorus, video of our international gold medal performance, and the full 2016-2017 Season performance schedule, including the Oct. 1 Fall Follies Concert, are available on the PGC website at girlschorus.org.
