PARK(ing) Day Planned for September 21

Pocatellans are being asked to reimagine a space many of us use every day.

Friday, September 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., will be the first ever PARK(ing) Day in the Gate City. The effort will feature participating groups reinventing parking spaces as parklets in front of their establishments and during that time, residents will get a chance to view the temporary installations.

“Parklets take small spaces, often just a few parking spots wide, and create a place to meet with friends and add fun energy to an area,” said Maggie Clark, Project Manager with the City of Pocatello. “Using parklets, we can reimagine the possibilities of the urban landscape in Pocatello.”

Organizations and businesses scheduled to participate include the City of Pocatello, The Yellowstone, Station Square, Orange and Black Store, The Elwen Cottage, Main Steam Coffee and Desserts, Molinelli’s Jewelers, and the Bannock Transportation Planning Organization.

PARK(ing) Day will also reuse some of the materials from the Terry First Build a Better Block event held in August.
