Grab a blanket and join us out in the field, along-side a pond, or under the trees for story time at the Ogden Nature Center! Every Tuesday afternoon, come read a book with us outside. We’ll dive deeper into the themes of the story by exploring the Ogden Nature Center. Please check in at the Visitor Center. No reservations needed, just drop in.

Wednesdays are WILD at the Ogden Nature Center. Join a naturalist every week for a unique nature program that is perfect for all ages! Ages 14+
Surround yourself with acrylics and watercolors as you join us for Art in Nature! We invite adults of all skill levels to join us as we paint a nature-inspired project in a child-free environment. Classes are led by ONC naturalist Hailey Brown and professional watercolor painter, Susan Snyder from Silver & Sage Studios. Basic materials are available for use for a $5 charge, or please bring your own supplies. This program will be held outdoors, and is subject to weather and light. October 3 – Owl that Art
View our resident owls up close at the Ogden Nature Center and then paint an owl using acrylics. ONC naturalist Hailey Brown will instruct this class.
November 7 – Birds of a Feather Paint Together
Join watercolor artist Susan Snyder in November for a class where all the paintings will be turkeys! We’ll learn about watercolor techniques, paint feathers, and then we’ll paint a turkey on canvas using a turkey mount as our model.

Cub Scouts Hiking Loops
$5 members / $8 non- members
Have badges/loops to fulfill but don’t know where to start? The Ogden Nature Center has exactly what you’re looking for! Join us on select Saturdays this fall for Scout Saturdays. During these programs we walk your troop through the requirements for badges and loops and even sign blue cards. October’s program will focus around loops for Tiger (Tigers in the Wild), Wolf (Paws on the Path) and Bear Scouts (Furs, Feathers & Ferns). Members $5 per child/parent, non-member $6 per child/parent
Preschool Programs focus on the season at hand and are designed for children ages 3-5. Admission includes a child/adult pair; additional family members may attend but must pay general admission. Any group of 5+ children is $5 per child/adult pair; teachers & aides free with qualifying school group. Pre-registration required – a 50% non-refundable deposit is required for groups of 5 or more. Classes may be cancelled due to low

Leaves and Trees
Colors are changing at the Ogden Nature Center. Join us as we explore trees through crafts, games, and songs. We will explore the colors and shapes of trees as we try to understand what makes these marvels so magnificent.

Design and build your very own hiking stick! Supplies are provided, so bring your family and friends to create something special and then put it to use as you head out onto the beautiful 152-acre preserve with 1.5 miles of walking trails!

The Ogden Nature Center presents Creatures of the Night, a not-so-scary, fall event for the whole family.
• Learn about snakes, spiders and owls with live animal presentations
• Go on a crepuscular creep around the nature preserve. This guided hike will introduce you to some of our “wild” creatures that occupy the night and evening hours around the Nature Center.
• Find your way through the Spider Web Crawl
• Listen to stories by the campfire and peek inside a real tipi.
• Food vendors, carnival games, crafts, fun fortune telling, treats, and hands-on educational fun. No RSVP necessary.
Costumes welcome! Please dress for the weather. Held rain or shine. Flashlights recommended.

Did you know that Peregrine Falcons dive at up to 250 mph, making them the fastest animal in the world? Test how your skills stack up against these and other animal champions in our third installment of Animal Olympics! Children will run, build, and compete in various events, culminating in an awards ceremony that would make even the showiest bird of paradise proud! Come to the Ogden Nature Center for an annual fall planting day. Help plant native trees and shrubs throughout the property in an effort to replace invasive species and provide habitat for our wildlife. This is a great project for groups or individuals. We will read My Side of the Mountain, by Jean George. This book is an exploration into a truly self-reliant lifestyle. Beyond reading and discussing the book, we will dive into some key literary devices used in the book, practice writing, and learn some survival skills of our own. This program is perfect as an after-school option or for homeschool students. Each child is responsible for purchasing or borrowing the book from the library.
