North 10th Street, between Military Road and Sun Valley Boulevard, is now open to through traffic. The street had been closed since May 2017 for reconstruction of the bridge over Salt Creek. Temporary lane closures will continue for the next three weeks as crews complete pavement markings and other minor work. Lincoln residents are reminded to exercise caution around construction crews.

The bridge has been widened to include a lane for southbound, left-turning traffic that reduces the risk of rear-end collisions and congestion. Other safety improvements include a wider sidewalk along the bridge that meets ADA-accessible guidelines and further separates vehicles from foot and bicycle traffic. The bridge sidewalk now connects with the Salt Creek Levee Trail to meet the growing need for trail connectivity to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus and downtown Lincoln.

The Public Works and Utilities Department appreciates the public’s patience during this project. More information is available at lincoln.ne.gov (keyword: 10th).
