NORD Chief Executive Officer Application Period Now Open

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Recreation Development (NORD) Commission has opened the application period in search of a new CEO. Interested parties may view the full job description and submission requirements at www.nordc.org/about/jobs. Resumes will be accepted until Oct. 12, 2018.

The City of New Orleans, through the NORD Commission, has engaged a broad range of stakeholders to shape the job description to find the right professional to move the organization forward. NORD is seeking a collaborative visionary with strong communications skills to serve as the next Chief Executive Officer.

Under the general direction of the NORD Commission, the CEO will have the responsibility to plan, organize and direct the employees and programs of NORD; oversee development, implementation and administration of NORD policies, programs and facilities; manage daily operations; ensure the effective maintenance and operations of recreation facilities, including all outdoor athletic and recreational centers; coordinate with and delegate to outside agencies and community groups; assist in building financial and strategic support for NORD; and provide highly effective and comprehensive information and support to the Commission.

The CEO works in conjunction with the Executive Director of the NORD Foundation.

Qualified applicants must have:

  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in management and programming, with minimum 5 years of experience in recreation, human resources, finance, operation or related field
  • Experience with facilities, operations, leading and managing professional staff and teams to higher levels of performance
  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing annual budgets of at least $1M in the government and/or non-profit sectors
  • A bachelor’s degree

A minimum 5 years of experience in the administration of a parks and recreation department/organization is preferred.

The mission of the NORD Commission is to advance the physical, mental, and social well-being of New Orleanians by providing safe and welcoming environments for recreational, athletic, and cultural experiences. The Commission is charged with planning, supervising, and conducting a comprehensive and coordinated program of cultural and physical recreation; promoting cooperative planning with public and private entities concerned with recreation; managing, maintaining, and operating recreational facilities owned or operated by the City of New Orleans; and performing other related duties as may be provided by ordinance of the City Council. www.nordc.org.
