NEW ORLEANS – Brothers at Peace and the NOPD will hold the First Annual Flag Football Game and Crescent City Conversation this coming Sunday.
The game will be held Sunday, October 14, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Joe W. Brown Park located at 5601 Read Boulevard.
The inaugural game is a joint effort between Brothers at Peace, the Office of New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell, and the NOPD. Seventh District Commander Lawrence Dupree, NOPD Education and Training Academy Commander Sean Ferguson, and Second District Detective Jerry Baldwin are leading the effort for NOPD.
Team NOPD will consist of officers from all over the department. They’ll square off against a Brothers at Peace team selected from youth participating in the program.
Prior to the game, there will be a conversation between the two teams about building relationships between New Orleans youth and NOPD. The conversation will be held around noon, just prior to the game.
Brothers at Peace is a non-profit organization created to provide care, recreation, and enriching programs for New Orleans youth 18 and younger. The organization consists of men dedicated to nurturing potential, promote healthy living, and fostering social responsibility with a goal of building a community where young people are encouraged to develop to their fullest potential in mind, body and spirit.
