NOPD Arrests Three Juveniles after Stolen Vehicle Crashes into Construction Site

NEW ORLEANS – The NOPD arrested three juveniles on Thursday after they were spotted in a stolen car and attempted to evade capture before crashing the stolen vehicle.

Three male juveniles ages 15, 12, and 12 were spotted in a stolen gray Honda Accord that was taken last night during an armed robbery in the 5400 block of Provincial Place in the Seventh District reported under item number I-23981-18.

On Thursday, Second District officers spotted the vehicle, occupied by the three juveniles, near the intersection of North Claiborne and Orleans avenues. The officers requested assistance and continued to follow the vehicle in their unmarked police vehicle.

As additional units (marked and unmarked) responded to the area, the juveniles attempted to flee the area. When they reached the area of Canal and Marais streets, the juvenile driving the stolen vehicle lost control and crashed into the tire of a crane that was parked on the lake bound side of Canal Street.

After a brief foot chase, the three juveniles were apprehended in the area without further incident. Louisiana State Police assisted with the apprehension of one of the juvenile suspects.

No one was injured during the apprehension of the three juvenile subjects.

The three juveniles are believed to be responsible for multiple offenses in the First, Second, Sixth, and Seventh districts.

Canal Street heading lake bound was closed at Marais Street for an extended time.

The investigation into this incident remains open and active. Anyone with information regarding this incident or the three juvenile suspects is asked to contact Crimestoppers anonymously at 504-822-1111 and toll-free at 1-877-903-7867.
