NEW ORLEANS – The NOPD has arrested Marvin King (pictured at left, DOB: 09-01-2000) and Deron Torres (pictured at right, DOB: 02-16-2000) in connection with three vehicle burglaries reported between November 28 and November 29, 2018.
While on active patrol at about 1:30 a.m., NOPD Second District officers observed two subjects near the intersection of Hillary and Pine streets. The subjects matched the descriptions of two perpetrators who allegedly broke the window to a vehicle earlier that morning. As officers approached, the subjects fled on foot. Both were later apprehended by Second District Task Force officers and positively identified as King and Torres.
During the arrest, King was found to be in possession of a window punch, flashlight, ski mask, large amount of money and the identification and debit/credit cards from the victim of vehicle burglary which occurred in the 1700 block of 4th Street, a location in the Sixth District.
Also during the arrest, Torres was found to have an outstanding warrant for a past vehicle burglary which occurred in the 4900 block of Stephen Girard Drive in the Third District in July 2018. Second and Sixth District investigators interviewed both subjects, at which time King confessed to perpetrating the vehicle burglary in the 1700 block of 4th Street.
Both King and Torres were booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for three counts of simple burglary.
Based on the locations, times and circumstances, Second District investigators are looking to determine if King and Torres may be responsible for an additional vehicle burglary in the Second District during that same time frame, which may lead to additional charges.
Anyone with additional information on these incidents is asked to contact NOPD Second District detectives at 504-658-6020.
