NOPD Arrests Subject on Drug, Weapons Charges in the Seventh District


NEW ORLEANS – The NOPD has arrested a subject on drug and weapons charges in the Seventh District.

November 5, 2018 around 4:45 a.m. near the intersection of Chef Menteur Highway and Good Drive

On Monday, November 05, 2018 around 4:45 a.m., Seventh District officers observed the subject driving a car with a tinted license plate.

A traffic stop was conducted which revealed the driver, Deshawn Sims (B/M DOB: 3/19/1987), to be driving on a suspended license.

After conducting a search incident to arrest, Sims was discovered to be in possession of a Cobra .9 mm handgun and crack cocaine. Sims also had a parole violation and a bench warrant for failing to appear in court on a previous narcotics arrest.

Sims was charged with being a felon with a firearm, carrying a firearm while in possession of narcotics, narcotics possession, probation violation, a bench warrant for failing to appear, and multiple traffic violations.
