The New Mexico State University rodeo team will travel to Casper, Wyoming, to compete in the College National Finals Rodeo Sunday, June 10, to Saturday, June 16.
“We are very excited for the CNFR,” said Logan Corbett, rodeo head coach. “I think that we have some outstanding student-athletes qualified, and have some real opportunities to win some national championships.”
NMSU had 11 student-athletes qualify for nationals, but junior Tyler Muth will not compete due to a steer wrestling accident he recently suffered. NMSU will be represented by five seniors: Anna Barker and Carly Billington (barrel racing), Jace Cooley (saddle bronc riding), Wyatt Jurney (steer wrestling) and Savannah Montero (goat tying); sophomore Derek Runyan (tie-down); and freshmen Colton Clemens and Cauy Pool (bareback riding) and Blaise Milligan and Levi Whitley (bull riding).
The final four days of competition will be broadcast live on ESPN3 Wednesday, June 13, to Saturday, June 16.
“College rodeo is a growing sport and having the opportunity to be on a nationally watched television network is huge,” Corbett said.
