The Southwest Turfgrass Association in cooperation with New Mexico State University’s College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences will be hosting the annual Recreational Landscape Conference Nov. 13-15 at the Ruidoso Convention Center in Ruidoso, New Mexico.

The conference will kick off Tuesday, Nov. 13, with a golf tournament and fundraiser to raise money for a turfgrass research endowment. NMSU Extension Turfgrass Specialist Bernd Leinauer said the ultimate goal is to raise enough money to sponsor a full-time research assistantship.

On Wednesday College of ACES Dean Rolando Flores and Associate Dean Natalie Goldberg will give the welcoming remarks followed by Leinauer giving an agriculture research and Extension update overview of the last year. The rest of Wednesday and Thursday will consist of seminars and presentations varying from pest management to soil health to irrigation scheduling.

“The Southwest Turfgrass Conference is the premiere conference for anybody working in the turfgrass and landscape business to gain education and information on what’s new in the landscape and turfgrass world,” Leniauer said. “We bring in speakers from other states like Florida and Arizona to talk about important issues and findings from other parts of the country and world, so that’s important.”

The trade show will take place on both days allowing conference participants to see the latest products and the newest tools in the field of turfgrass and landscape management. Four JS6 irrigator credits and seven pesticide CEUs will be available.

“This conference is the most informative and most cost-effective conference and trade show that is offered in the Southwest, if not the entire country,” Leinauer said. Conference participants will learn about new tricks of the trade, receive CEUs and have the opportunity to network with other colleagues working in the field.

The registration fee is $175 and includes lunch on both days. For more information and to register, visit southwestturfgrass.com/
