Night work set to begin along Prairie Hawk Drive May 21; watch for flaggers

The sign says “roadwork ahead.” While that could signal inconvenience, it also means the Town is maintaining its investment in the street system.

Crews have been performing maintenance during the day along Prairie Hawk Drive between Wolfensberger Road and the newly constructed four-lane portion. Starting on May 21, they’ll be working at night.

Work hours will be 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. May 21 through May 24. The first two days will be dedicated to milling out the old asphalt on the roadway. The second two days will be dedicated to placing the new asphalt. Crews will return during the day on May 25 to paint the lines.

For the safety of workers and the traveling public, traffic will be reduced to one lane during these times. Watch for flaggers who will be letting through one direction at a time. Thank you for your patience.

As always, construction schedules in Colorado depend on weather, so pay attention to electronic message boards in the area for updates. In addition, the Town is working diligently to complete this work ahead of the Meadows Parkway Reconstruction project, which is set to begin May 29.

This work is being completed as part of the Town’s annual Pavement Maintenance Program. In all, the Town will invest $11 million in street maintenance this year. The funding is primarily from the Town’s Transportation Fund, which includes revenues from sales tax, motor vehicle tax and building use tax.
