Police Explorers Open House – September 27

Come learn more about the Carrollton Police Department’s (CPD) Explorer Post 125 at the CPD headquarters (2025 E. Jackson Road) on Thursday, September 27 from 6:30-8 p.m. The Explorer program is a great way for young men and women to get a closer look at law enforcement and possibly discover their future career. GRILLED – September 29

The City would like to invite all barbeque enthusiasts for an afternoon full of fun and food. The inaugural GRILLED event is set for Saturday, September 29 from 1-6 p.m. at McInnish Park (2335 Sandy Lake Road), and is sure to satisfy everyone’s barbeque cravings. The day will be packed full of activities for competitors and spectators alike, such as Vintage Base Ball, Chalk for Charity, build your own barbecue obstacle course, and a barbeque tasting tent. Movie on the Square – September 29

Bring the whole family out for an evening of entertainment and fun with Movie on the Square. We’ll be showing Thor: Ragnarok (2017), PG-13 Saturday, September 29 at sunset on the Downtown Carrollton Square (1106 S. Broadway Street). Watch as Thor races against time to prevent Ragnarok, the destruction of Asgard, from becoming a reality. Yoga Digest Fest – October 6

This free, family-friendly yoga event is hosted by Yoga Digest and sponsored by the City of Carrollton. Join us for a day full of yoga classes, activities, and fun on Saturday, October 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will be full of activities for the whole family including crystal bowl meditation, all-levels yoga classes, doga, acro yoga, Ayurveda, aerial yoga, an essential oils class and more! Plus a vendor village with plenty of sips and eats, shopping, and sampling. There will also be a wide range of activities, such as, henna tattoos, chair massages, arts and crafts, and live music. Adult, Child, & Infant CPR/AED Class – October 6

Carrollton Fire Rescue has a goal for as many citizens to be trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) use as possible and is extending a challenge to the local community: get trained, save a life. The next scheduled CPR/AED class is set for Saturday, October 6 from 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Crosby Recreation Center (1610 E. Crosby Road). The session is $25 for both Carrollton residents and non-residents.

The City of Carrollton encourages local businesses to schedule on-site training courses with CFR to establish what could be a safer environment should a cardiac episode occur in the workplace. Fall Family Campout – October 6

Join us for a night under the stars with the Fall Family Campout on Saturday, October 6 at R.E. Good Soccer Complex (2355 Sandy Lake Road). Begin setting up camp at 3 p.m. and relax with an afternoon full of hiking and games. Dinner will be served in the evening, as well as a bonfire and screening of Space Jam (1996), PG. Campsites must be clear by 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 7. Breakfast will be provided as everyone breaks camp. Campers must bring their own camping equipment. Registration is required. On-site registration is from 3 p.m. until dusk. The cost is $10 per a camper or $8 per person for Saturday only (dinner and movie). Here the employers will present information about their organization, go over applicant do’s and don’ts, and answer questions.
