The City of Peoria Public Works Department is reminding motorists to take it slow in work zones in and around Peoria this coming National Work Zone Awareness Week and every week.
The annual spring campaign runs from April 20-24 and focuses on protecting workers and road users by encouraging safe driving through work zones and anytime construction workers may be present. The key message is for drivers to take it slow, limit distractions, practice patience and use extra caution when passing through repair sites.
“This is a good time of year to remind drivers to drop distractions when behind the wheel, especially in work zones,” said Sie Maroon, Superintendent of Operations. “Everyone working in a work zone should be able to go home safely to their families at the end of their day.”
