Monster Energy Supercross Teams With Utah Sports Commission for Long-Awaited Return to Salt Lake City

Date marks the first visit to Rice-Eccles Stadium since 2013

ELLENTON, Fla. (November 1, 2016) – Feld Entertainment® announced today they are excited to partner with the Utah Sports Commission to bring Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship back to Salt Lake City on April 22, 2017 at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

The world’s premier off-road motorcycle championship, an American original, will kick-off a 17-race battle to crown a champion on January 7, in which reigning back-to-back champion Ryan Dungey will take on the formidable task of securing a third consecutive title against a star-studded international field of challengers.

Utah is widely known as an epicenter for action sports and provides the perfect backdrop for Monster Energy Supercross. The Utah Sports Commission plays a vital role in the Utah sports community and has been working diligently with Feld Entertainment to bring Supercross back to the state.

“We are pleased that one of the premier motorsport properties in the world is returning to Utah,” said Utah Sports Commission President & CEO Jeff Robbins.  “In addition to Supercross’ national following of the series, Utah has a huge fan base and we anticipate 40,000 to fill Rice-Eccles Stadium for the event.  This event brings significant economic impact to the state and its national and international broadcast is great exposure for Utah.”

Supercross fans in Salt Lake City have witnessed some of the most memorable races in history over the years including a snow storm in 2010 and Supercross Champion Ryan Villopoto clinching his third title back in 2013.
