Shanice Gill is an Administrative Specialist working with both the P-Patch Community Gardening program and the Major Institutions and Schools program. She joined the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods team in November 2019 after moving to Seattle from Dallas, TX.

Where did you grow up?
Seattle and Texas.
What neighborhood do you call home?
The Othello neighborhood in South Seattle and Renton.
What makes your neighborhood special?
Cherishing the memories playing as a kid with family and friends and also seeing how the neighborhood looks different after being tore down and rebuilt.
What did you do prior to joining the Department of Neighborhoods?
I worked on the Accounts Receivable/Collections team for Capital One in Dallas, TX. I enjoyed connecting with people through their financial difficulties and hardships.
What made you want to work at the Department of Neighborhoods?
Having the opportunity to work in the community where I grew up and helping with low-income families.
What’s your favorite place in Seattle and why?
Downtown…riding the ferry and ferris wheel. Pike Place Market. And, all the authentic restaurants that they don’t have in Texas! LOL!
