MAYOR’S YOUNG LEADERS ADVISORY COUNCIL TO HOST JAX YOUTH IMPROVEMENT MOVEMENT

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., March 31, 2017 – Cultural awareness, racial disparities, gang violence and employment represent a handful of issues that are top-of-mind for today’s youth. The Mayor’s Young Leaders Advisory Council (YLAC) is seeking to address these topics as they host Jacksonville’s youngest citizens at an event that will include panel discussions, workshops, entertainment and more. The free event, called the Jax Youth Improvement Movement, is open to youth ages 13 – 21.

YLAC is composed of 50 local high school juniors and seniors. The council offers youth the opportunity to learn more about city government, effective citizenship, share ideas with City officials and advise them on issues facing Jacksonville’s youth. For more information about YLAC or the Jax Youth Improvement Movement event, persons should contact Chardae Hancock at [email protected].
