Mayor Cantrell Issues Statement on DHS Audit Decision

NEW ORLEANS — On Friday, Mayor LaToya Cantrell issued the following statement on the Department of Homeland Security’s decision regarding the $2 billion FEMA settlement with the City of New Orleans and the Sewerage & Water Board:

“Since taking office on May 7th, we have been working diligently with our federal partners in the expectation that this day would come. I believe Acting Deputy Secretary Grady made the right decision in directing the Office of the Inspector General to close the recommendations without additional action,” said Mayor Cantrell. “I am glad to have the matter resolved. The City of New Orleans will continue to work in collaboration with our federal partners at the Federal Emergency Management Agency— and we look forward to moving ahead quickly with the work at hand.”
