Marshall Public Library to Host Book Reading by Local Author

The possible love life of one of history’s most famous writers will be the topic of discussion at the Marshall Public Library.

Wednesday, September 26 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., local novelist Helen Burton will read from her work “Shakespeare’s True Love” at the library. The book is a fictional portrayal of the romance between William Shakespeare and Anne Hathaway.

“While the novel is a work of fiction, the story follows the historical timeline of Shakespeare’s life,” said Burton. “It portrays Shakespeare as a man who loved his family and was forced to work in London to support them. It sparkles with humor and features direct quotations from Shakespeare’s works.”

“Helen brings so much life to these historical figures,” said Cresta Harwood, Administrative Assistant with the Marshall Public Library. “She is extremely talented and has a real love for the subject matter. Her book shows another side of Shakespeare besides the great playwright we all know.”

The reading will also feature Burton answering questions and signing books. Copies of “Shakespeare’s True Love” will be available for purchase from The Friends of the Marshall Public Library.

Burton is a former teacher with Pocatello/Chubbuck School District #25 and has a master’s degree from Idaho State University. “Shakespeare’s True Love” is her first novel.
