Marshall Public Library to Celebrate National Library Week

Marshall Public Library in Pocatello IdahoA nearly sixty-year tradition at the Marshall Public Library gets underway starting next week.

Starting Monday, April 10 and running through Saturday, April 15 the library will kick off National Library Week 2017. This year sees the library continue the American Library Association’s theme from last August, “Libraries Transform.” The initiative aims to “increase public awareness of the value, impact and services provided by libraries and library professionals.”

The week will feature special events to mark the occasion. Monday will feature a blackout poetry station near the circulation desk, Wednesday will see the “Human Library” return, and Friday will feature a showing of the superhero film Dr. Strange. The youngest library visitors will also have special events during the regular story time including one where they will learn about the transformation of caterpillars into butterflies.
