Nests, Nooks & Storybooks
Every Tuesday from 3:45pm – 4:15pm
Free for members and free with regular daily admission rates of $5 adults, $4 seniors, $3 kids (2-11)

Grab a blanket and join us out in the field, along a pond, or under the trees for story time at the Ogden Nature Center! Every Tuesday afternoon, come read a book with us outside. We’ll dive deeper into the themes of the story by exploring the Ogden Nature Center. Please check in at the Visitor Center. No reservations needed, just drop in.

Wild Wednesdays: Signs of Spring

Spring has arrived at the Ogden Nature Center! Help bring in the new season and learn how animals and plants adapt to warmer temperatures and longer days. Join us as we hit the trails looking for signs of spring. Be prepared to hear Chorus Frogs and keep an eye out for migrating birds. Please meet in the Visitor Center.

Wild Wednesdays: Going Green – A Special St. Patrick’s Day Program

Green is the theme for the Ogden Nature Center’s St. Patrick’s Day program. Once again it’s time to get your green on and discover why so many things in nature are green. Go on a scavenger hunt around the Nature Center searching for all things green. You’ll be amazed at what you can find! Please meet in the Visitor Center.

Scout Saturday: Boy Scouts Nature Badge
Saturday, March 17th from 9:00am to 12pm
$25 per scout, accompanying adult free. General admission rates apply to all other attending family members.
Ages: 11-17
What better place to work on a merit badge than the Ogden Nature Center? In this 3-hour workshop, our teacher/naturalists will lead scouts through the majority of the requirements for the Nature Badge. Pre-registration is required. Scout Saturday: Girl Scouts Brownie Outdoor Art Creator
Saturday, March 17th from 1:00pm – 4:00pm
$15/scout (parents free)
Ages: 7-9
Brownie Girl Scouts, join us at the Ogden Nature Center to earn your Outdoor Art Creator Badge! You will complete all five steps of the Outdoor Art Creator badge by going on a senses nature walk, creating leaf art, constructing a wind chime, painting outdoors, and building a fairy house. It’s Time to Build Birdhouses! Birdhouse Competition and Exhibit
Are you feeling woodsy, crafty, wild, sleek, modern, sustainable or colorful? Now is the time to get out your supplies, let the creativity flow, and start building birdhouses. Entries are dueMarch 19-24 at the Ogden Nature Center, 966 W. 12th St., Ogden. There is no entry fee. Birdhouses selected for the exhibit will be displayed April 14 through June 23, 2018. Winners will receive awards on April 11th at 5:30 pm at the Ogden Nature Center. All types of birdhouses are welcome: whimsical, beautiful, practical, functional, artistic or magical – but they need to be sturdy! Details at www.ogdennaturecenter.org.

Have you ever wondered what a snake feels like? What about a tortoise shell? Come find out and get an up-close look at the Ogden Nature Center’s resident reptiles. Learn what makes reptiles so special in the animal world. Please meet in the Visitor Center.

Nature Without Limits, for Juniors – Snake Scales and Turtle Shells
Saturday, March 24th from 9:00am – 10:30am

What makes a reptile different than a mammal? Find out through sorting games, reptile stories, a snake scale craft, and presentations of both a desert tortoise and a snake – all in this program specially designed for young children with special needs and their families. Pre-registration is required. Families are invited to complete a short questionnaire to share your child’s learning styles & needs. Join us for a hands-on, sensory friendly, nature discovery program all about reptiles – specially designed for school aged children. Learn the difference between reptiles and amphibians – by meeting both! We’ll also explore the life cycle of Utah reptiles, read a story, and make a reptile-themed craft. Pre-registration is required. Families are invited to complete a short questionnaire to share your child’s learning styles & needs. Spring is the season for new birth. But bunnies don’t lay eggs! Have some spring time fun as we learn about nesting birds in Utah. We will teach you some tricks to identify eggs, and what to do if you find a baby bird out of the nest. End your day with an egg hunt of a different kind. Search for hidden nests along our trail and try your hand at identifying the parents. Please meet in the Visitor Center.

Preschool Discovery Days: Skin, Scales and Reptile Tails

Discover the slimy and scaly critters that call the Nature Center home as we investigate reptiles and amphibians up close. Meet a desert tortoise, play lizard games and make a reptile craft to take home. Our preschool programs are designed for children 3-5 years old. Pre-registration is required by all participants.
