Wild Wednesdays: Signs of Spring

Spring has arrived at the Ogden Nature Center!  Help us bring in the new season as we learn how animals and plants adapt to warmer temperatures and longer days.  Join us as we hit the trails looking for signs of spring. Be prepared to hear Chorus Frogs and keep an eye out for migrating birds. Please meet in the Visitor Center. 
 
Wild Wednesdays: Crazy & Curious Corvids

Join an Ogden Nature Center teacher/naturalist for a Wild Wednesday program focused on some of the smartest groups of birds in the world — corvids.  Listen to a true tale about a special raven and then meet the Ogden Nature Center’s most curious and playful raven, Cronk.  Please meet in the Visitor Center. 
 
Spring Garden Workshop
Saturday, March 12, 9:30 – 11 am
Ages: adults
$8 members / $10 non-members
Whether you’re planting annuals, perennials, grasses or veggies, learn the basics for a successful garden from Barney Barnett of Willard Bay Gardens.  Please RSVP by Friday, March 11 to 801-621-7595.
 
Wild Wednesdays: Going Green: A Special St. Patrick’s Day Program

Green is the theme for this St. Patrick’s Day program. Once again it’s time to get your green on and discover why so many things in nature are green.  Go on a scavenger hunt around the nature preserve searching for all things green.  You’ll be amazed at what you can find!  Please meet in the Visitor Center.
 
Kundalini Yoga for Spring– 8 week session
Mondays, March 21 through May 9 from 6:30 – 7:45 pm
$45 members / $50 nonmembers
Ages: Adults
This Kundalini Yoga class is ideal for beginner/intermediate and for those who want to experience  Kundalini yoga and meditation.  Bring your own yoga mat and blanket.  Wear loose, comfortable clothing and we recommend not eating for at least one hour before class.  Taught by a certified instructor.  Please pre-register by calling 801-621-7595.
 
Wild Wednesdays: Birds Not Bunnies

Spring is the season for new birth. But bunnies don’t lay eggs? Have some springtime fun as we learn about nesting birds in Utah. We will teach you some tricks to identify eggs and what to do if you find a baby bird out of the nest. End your day with an egg hunt of a different kind. Search for hidden nests along the trail and try your hand at identifying the parents. Meet in the Visitor Center.
 
Spring Green Clean Workshop

accompanied by a participating adult)

It’s time for spring cleaning in many of our homes! But what can we use that is earth-friendly and safe for pets and kids? We have some DIY solutions for you. Join an ONC teacher/naturalist as we make and take some earth friendly cleaning products to save money and our planet.  Space is limited and pre-registration is required. It’s Time To Build Birdhouses!
Birdhouse Competition and Exhibit
Entries due March 21 – 26, 2016 at the Ogden Nature Center, 966 W. 12th St., Ogden
Are you feeling woodsy, crafty, wild, sleek, modern, sustainable or colorful?  Now is the time to get out your supplies, let the creativity flow, and start building  birdhouses.  There is no entry fee.  Birdhouses selected for the exhibit will be displayed April 9 through June .  Winners will receive awards on April 7 at the Ogden Nature Center.  All types of birdhouses are welcome: whimsical, beautiful, practical, functional, artistic or magical – but they all need to be sturdy! Preschool Discovery Days: Roots & Shoots, Spring and Sprouts

$5 per child for preschool groups of 5 or more
For ages 3-5 and their accompanying adult
Come celebrate all things new at the Nature Center! Whether green and growing, newly hatched, or shaky legs upon hooves setting out for the first time, appreciate your own growth and development in the mirror of nature. Dress for the weather. Pre-registration is required. Walk-ins will only be accepted when space is available. Classes may be canceled due to low attendance. Please call 801-621-7595 for more information or to register. 
 
Wild Wednesdays: Beavers: The Brilliant Builders

All ages welcome
No other wild animal changes their environment more than the beaver.  From dams, canals, and lodges, beaver create a habitat that suits their needs.  Join us on a hike to learn about beaver adaptations and explore examples of their construction skills. Please meet in the Visitor Center.
