Lotus Park: Ogden’s New Assisted-Living Center

Lotus Park is different from most assisted-living centers. Located in West Haven near Ogden, Utah, it opened in May of 2012 and, after being opened only 60 days, the 32-suite facility was already 50% full. The developers did a lot of research and testing to make living there the best experience possible for seniors and other adults needing regular care.

By careful design, Lotus Park feels like home. It????????s comfortable and pleasant, much like a cozy bed-and-breakfast. From the outside, you????????d never guess that it houses 32 suites–just the right size to keep things personal and friendly. There is extra sound-dampening material between the residents???????? rooms so they can????????t hear their neighbors???????? television noise or visitors. Best of all, every hallway leads directly into the dining room. That????????s critical for seniors who don????????t want to have to brave long walks or elevators to get a meal. And, the food is really good, thanks to Chef Chelsea Martindale. VIDEO: What is Lotus Park Assisted Living?

One elderly gentleman came to Lotus Park for a three-day ??????respite?????? (adult care) during which his children/caregivers would be out of town. At first, he was a little resistant to being there–but he quickly changed his tune and, by the end of the three days, elected to stay at Lotus Park permanently. ??????We haven????????t seen him this happy in five years??????, said one of his children.

At Lotus Park, the focus is on the residents, their well-being and their overall happiness. Hospitality Director Jenae Osman works at providing interesting activities, which are optional. She and the staff really care about the residents as individuals and as friends.

There is a focus behind that focus, though: excellent healthcare. It????????s not a typical ??????old age home??????; at many of those, an RN would have to be called in when needed. Full-time nurse Donna Reynolds is an RN and Manager Angie Simpson is an LPN; licensed CNAs are also on staff, as is Glen F. Biddulph, M.D. (Internal Medicine). Lotus Park says, ??????Bring us your sick family members and we will make sure they have a better-quality life. They may even be able to go back home.??????

Executive Director/Administrator Charles Osman, who personally directed the construction of Lotus Park, sums it up like this: ??????It????????s really an honor and a privilege to be in a position to help our residents improve their health and their outlooks on life.??????
