The front lobby of the Logan, Utah SpringHill Suites by Marriott was a beautiful symphony of organized chaos on last Friday. The contagious energy was all due to a well-known bicycle road race, the LOTOJA.
Starting in Logan, the LOTOJA spans three states and ends in the shadows of the Teton mountain range at Jackson Hole, Wyoming. This 206 mile European-style bicycle classic always brings a buzz of excitement and anticipation to our valley.
Riders and their support teams started pouring into the hotel around 3pm, and the momentum of our lobby did not slow down for over 5 or 6 hours. This year we offered our LOTOJA riders and guests???????? arrival gifts and an in-lobby cyclery shop, provided by Al????????s Sporting Goods and we also had 2 massage therapists to help sooth those pre-race muscles.
The Logan Marriott also provides an amazing on property restaurant, The Elements. On Friday night the Elements offered the riders two delicious and oversized carbo-loaded pasta dishes to help them prepare for the following day.
Over 425 people visited the Elements that Friday night, and all of them enjoyed the delicious food, excitement and service, and all this while an amazing college football game was raging on ESPN between Utah State University and The University of Utah. What an intense game! There was a serious buzz around the hotel and then finally, the crescendo, USU beat UofU in overtime!
Last Friday night was an exciting night, not just for our hotel, restaurant and local University but also for all the LOTOJA riders that stayed with us and for USU fans everywhere. Last Friday night was an amazing experience, I am glad I was part of it!
