When you drive up to Legacy Village, it feels like you????????re about to enter an upscale lodge at a ski resort. The architecture is current and pleasant. When the facility opened nearly two years ago in September 2010, it changed the whole feel of that section of Fairfield Road.
When you walk into Legacy Village, it feels like you????????ve just entered a luxury hotel, right down to the carpet and chandeliers. It certainly doesn????????t feel like a senior care center, but that????????s exactly what it is. The facility was built and is operated by Western States Lodging, which operates several Layton hotels, including the Davis Conference Center and the ??????hotel?????? feel of the facility is by design.
Legacy Village is a “continuing care” senior living community–continuing care because as each senior declines in health, he or she can easily move into the next ??????module?????? for an increase in the level of care without leaving the retirement community.
The 246-unit, seven-acre facility at 1205 North Fairfield Road in Layton, Utah, boasts four modules. All are in one building with three sections that have separate entrances. The four modules are Independent Living (also called Retirement Living), Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Rehabilitation Services. According to the brochure, ??????residents enjoy 24-hour security, daily activities, restaurant-style dining, beautifully decorated living areas and a variety of apartment floor plans–all in a home-like setting.?????? Legacy Village currently has about 75 residents in the Independent Living module.
Independent Living lets the seniors there enjoy social, educational and leisure activities without the responsibility of maintaining a home. The staff might assist the residents with putting on a movie to watch, for example.
Assisted Living offers help with bathing, dressing, eating and medications. Memory Care (The Cottage) is the section of the Assisted Living area for patients with Alzheimer????????s disease or other memory problems, and the 40-bed Rehabilitation unit offers a hospital-based approach for patients recovering from surgery, injuries, strokes or other hospitalization.
The staff members get to know each resident or patient by name and treat them with dignity–part of their ??????Personal Touch?????? philosophy. Legacy Village might feel like a luxury hotel but for many seniors, it????????s a place where they can get just the right amount of help.
